Donald McNear, MA, CFBT, LPC
If you're a parent in Pennsylvania searching for support as your child or teen navigates anxiety, behavioral challenges, trauma, or family tensions, I know how heavy that can feel. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience working with families, I’m dedicated to helping children, teens, and parents find practical tools, emotional healing, and stronger relationships through fully online counseling from the comfort of home.
My approach is grounded in empathy, evidence-based methods, and a thoughtful, values-aligned perspective. I specialize in strengthening parent-child relationships while helping with behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, and family connection. I believe every child and teen has unique strengths worth nurturing, and families deserve a safe, supportive space to grow together.

Professional Background & Experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Student Ministries. I also hold Family Based Certification after completing an intensive three-year training program. With more than 15 years in mental health, I have provided intensive in-home family therapy for high-risk children and adolescents, as well as one-on-one behavioral health support in school, home, and community settings. This work has focused on emotional and behavioral challenges, strengthening attachment relationships, developing practical coping skills, and collaborating with schools and other professionals to support the best possible outcomes for families.

My Therapeutic Approach
I specialize in helping children and teens with emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties while empowering parents to respond with greater confidence and calm. Counseling draws from evidence-based methods such as systemic family therapy, attachment-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, strengths-based therapy, and behavioral approaches. These methods can be offered in a way that respects and aligns with your family’s faith and values when that is important to you. I want parents to know that how they feel matters too. Parenting a child who is struggling can be exhausting and emotionally heavy, and those feelings are valid. The goal is to support both you and your child so the whole family can move toward greater connection, reduced conflict, and a calmer home environment.

A Little About Me
When I'm not in session, you'll find me with my family or enjoying quiet time outdoors with my dog. It keeps me balanced and reminds me why the work of supporting families matters so much.
