Compassionate Online Counselor Specializing in Children, Teens, and Family Therapy in Pennsylvania
Donald McNear, MA, CFBT, LPC
If you're a parent in Pennsylvania searching for support as your child or teen navigates anxiety, behavioral challenges, trauma, or family tensions, I know how heavy that can feel. As an LPC with over 15 years of experience working with families, I’m dedicated to helping children, teens, and parents find practical tools, emotional healing, and stronger relationships through fully online integrative Christian counseling from the comfort of home.
My approach is grounded in empathy, evidence-based methods, and a biblical worldview that honors Scripture's truths about human worth, hope, forgiveness, and God's faithful love for families. I believe every child and teen has unique strengths worth nurturing, and families deserve a safe, supportive space to grow together in both clinical insight and faith.

Professional Background & Experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Student Ministries. I also hold Family Based Certification after completing an intensive three-year training program. With more than 15 years of experience in mental health, I have provided intensive in-home family therapy for high-risk children and adolescents, utilizing Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy and a strength-based approach to identify and build on family and individual strengths while addressing emotional and behavioral challenges. Earlier in my career, I delivered one-on-one behavioral health interventions for children and teens in school, home, and community settings, emphasizing coping skills, positive reinforcement, crisis management, and de-escalation. This work was always approached through a lens that highlights resilience and existing capabilities. Throughout my work, I have conducted comprehensive assessments, developed individualized treatment plans, strengthened attachment relationships, and collaborated closely with schools, probation officers, medical professionals, and community resources to achieve optimal outcomes.

My Therapeutic Approach
I specialize in helping children and teens with emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties while empowering parents to lead with confidence, structure, and grace. Integrative Christian counseling draws from evidence-based methods such as systemic family therapy, attachment-based interventions, cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy, while grounding everything in a biblical perspective. This means we use proven psychological strategies, including a strengths-based focus that identifies and builds on each child’s, teen’s, and family’s unique God-given abilities, resilience, and positive qualities to promote healing and growth. These approaches are carefully aligned with Scripture’s truths about human worth, forgiveness, hope, and God’s faithful love for families. Where helpful, we can incorporate prayer, biblical reflection, or faith-based coping tools, always tailored to your family’s comfort and needs.

A Little About Me
When I'm not in session, you'll find me with my family or enjoying quiet time outdoors with my dog. It keeps me balanced and reminds me why the work of supporting families matters so much.
